     Margetta Shaw

Margetta Shaw is our Mental Health/Disabilities Coordinator and has a huge responsibility to make sure that children who need special services are supported.  Margetta served as a Family & Community Advocate (FCA) for several years, so she knows firsthand how to connect with parents and community resources.  She holds a Bachelor's Degree in social work and has set a goal for the future to work on her Master's Degree, also in social work.  She will be collaborating with ChildTeam, the Early Childhood Intervention group and all four ISDs, (Temple, Belton, Killeen and Troy) as well as private providers to make sure that our children receive the best services and the smoothest transitions possible.

Head Start Programs are required to make sure that a minimum of ten percent of the funded slots serve children with a diagnosed disability.  Extra points in our selection criteria system go to children with a diagnosis to help us meet that requirement.  4C usually enrolls more than the required percentage and we work closely with Early Childhood Intervention agencies and public schools to give those with special needs the extra attention they deserve.  When we share our child outcomes reports about what percent of our children are ready for school, those numbers include all our children with disabilities. And our data show high scores for school readiness.
